Auditions for School of Rock (adults)

Audition time for adults: 1:00 - 4:00
Auditions will be at the JRT Warehouse near Wetlands; 1533 Persimmon Ridge Rd.
School of Rock Audition Guidelines

General Guidelines:

1. Auditions will be held at JRT

2. Kids ages 12-18 years of age are eligible to audition

3. You will audition in the order in which you arrive.

4. Please fill out your audition paperwork and if you’re under 18, you must have your parents sign

the permission form.

5. Please make sure that you list your conflicts for the time frame of December 1 – March 19,

2023. We will be making the rehearsal schedule according to what you write down on the form

so please come prepared with any vacations, etc.

6. Please note that this production does have shows DURING SPRING BREAK FOR JC SCHOOLS.

You must be available for all shows or you will not be cast.

7. We will take in people 5 at a time. You will do your music selections/instrumental solos (if

needed) and read from the script at that time and then you will be released. There is no dance

audition for this show.

8. We will be holding callbacks but not for every role. If you don’t get called back, it does NOT

mean that you are NOT in the show. It just means we have seen all we need to see to make a

decision.

9. Parents will NOT be allowed in the room during auditions.

10. Be prepared to HAVE FUN!!!! Pick songs to sing that you LOVE!!!!

For kids interested in roles that play instruments:

A drum kit, amp and keyboard will be provided on audition days. Please bring your own sticks, electric

and bass guitars.

Please come prepared to play a short instrumental solo piece (guitar, bass guitar, drums, keyboard) It

should be in the genre of ROCK and should melt our faces off! Have fun! Pick a song you really love to

play!

You must be proficient in the instrument that you play.

You must be able to read music

For all kids:

Please come prepared to sing a short vocal track of a pop or rock song. At most, one verse and one

chorus only. Please bring a track to accompany yourself. A speaker will be provided so you can plug your phone in.

Be prepared to do a cold reading from the script

For Dewey:

Please come prepared to play a short guitar solo in the genre of ROCK! Have fun and melt our faces off!

Pick something you LOVE to play and have fun!

Please come prepared to sing a short vocal ROCK track. At most, one verse and one chorus. Please either bring a track or use your guitar to accompany yourself.

Prefer him to be proficient in electric guitar.

You must be able to read music.

Be prepared to do a cold reading from the script.

For Ms. Mullins:

Please come prepared to sing two vocal tracks:

One aria selection showing your legit soprano skills and one short contemporary or pop selection of no

more than one verse and one chorus. You must provide a track for the contemporary or pop track, but

you may sing the aria acapella.

Be prepared to do a cold reading from the script

For adults in supporting roles:

Please come prepared to sing a pop song selection of no more than one verse and one chorus. Have a

backing track on your phone.

All adults should be prepared to do a cold reading from the script

Adults will be covering multiple parts in this show (parents, teachers, band members, etc.)

For adults who wish to be in No Vacancy Band

Please bring your instrument and come prepared to play a short rock instrumental solo
